Supporting Students during Traumatic Events
A Message to Parents
The links on this page provide parents with suggestions for helping students cope with the generalized anxiety that may accompany a traumatic event. Even though these recent events occurred in a different state, media coverage brings the tragedy into our students' homes on a continuous basis.
The National Child Traumatic Stress Network, the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) have all produced excellent resources for teachers and parents to use in responding to student concerns.
