Congratulations to Mrs. Crystal McCarley for being named Pre K - 4th grade Beaver Teacher of the Year.
My name is Crystal McCarley and I teach 3rd and 4th grade Science and Social Studies. I graduated from the University of Memphis in 2008 with my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. This is my 17th year as an educator, and I have been lucky enough to call Beaver my home for each of those years.
My husband Jason and I will be married 31 years next month. We have three children- Dakota, Savanna, and Jacie who were all Hornets when they were in elementary school, and we have one granddaughter, Oaklee, who is currently in Kindergarten this year.
It is such an honor to be presented with this award. As an educator, you want to be able to change the world. I know I cannot change the entire world, but my daily goal is to positively impact the lives of the children I teach, and they feel seen, heard, safe, and loved. “Children are likely to live up to what you believe of them,” and I believe each child can achieve greatness, and I will be right there cheering them on.
