art work
The August heat may have been beating down on our school today, but several classes decided to think outside of the box to create a fun way to use the heat as a learning experience. Ms. Kim Kennedy, Ms. Tina Crews, Ms. Kim Barnett, and Ms. Crystal Barber all got artsy and scientific by making melting crayon art. Students used the scientific method to determine the best, most efficient, and creative ways to make their crayons melt to make colorful patterns and creative figures. Ms. Katie Tate’s classes used cooking skills to determine what was the most efficient method to cook an egg in the scorching sun: on the bare concrete, scrambled in a plastic container, or sunny side up in a cast iron skillet. While the hot sun may not have let us utilize our playground, it let us come up with creative ways to learn outside of the classroom!
