While reading Small Steps: The Year I Had Polio, our students have been learning about what it was like to live through polio and how this illness affected people’s lives. Today, we had a very special opportunity to take our learning one step further!
Mrs. Barbara came to visit our classroom and shared her own personal experience of having polio. The kids were able to hear firsthand what it was like to experience this illness, ask questions, and connect what they’ve been reading about to a real person’s story.
We are so thankful that our students had the opportunity to meet someone who actually experienced polio and was willing to share her story with them. Experiences like this remind us that the best learning often happens when we can connect books to real life. ❤️
Thank you, Mrs. Barbara, for sharing your story and making our learning so meaningful! 📖💙
