Big shout out to our SHES Team! What a fun day of professional development! Not only did we learn together , but we had a blast with some fun activities that reminded us why teamwork is so important. Whether it was building windbag towers or a competitive game of rock/paper/scissors, it was great to see everyone's creativity and collaboration in action.

First Week Lunch Menu:
Friday: Cheeseburger Basket w/Fries

Join us tomorrow from 8:00 AM - 10:30 AM for school registration. Stations will be set up in the library for those who have not already registered online. If you have already registered, you do not need to attend.
You can also drop off your student's school supplies. We will make sure everything is delivered to the classroom to make your student's first day even easier.

📢 Let's give a warm welcome to Sara Wood, our new Pre-K teacher at South Haven Elementary! 🌟
Sara is excited to join our team and bring her passion for education to South Haven. This will be her third year teaching in Henderson County. She earned her bachelor's in education from the University of Tennessee Martin and is currently pursuing a Master's in K-12 School Library, set to graduate this May.
Sara is an avid reader who enjoys devouring several books a week. She loves traveling and recently journeyed through five states in a single day! When she's not exploring or reading, Sara enjoys spending time with her family and caring for her animals. She has one dog named Spot and two micro squirrels named Kyra and Karma. Fun fact: her older sister is also a Pre-K teacher in Henderson County!

📢 Exciting news! Join us in welcoming Brenna Bethune to South Haven Elementary! 🌟
Brenna will be teaching 6th grade ELA and Social Studies this year, and she couldn't be more thrilled to join the Hawk Nest. As a South Haven alum who graduated in 2014, Brenna is excited to come back home and teach at the school where she grew up.
Brenna recently graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a degree in education. She and her husband live in Reagan, TN, where they have resided for the past year and a half. Brenna spends most of her time with her wonderful family and is actively involved in her church, where she and her husband serve as youth leaders, helping young people find their purpose.

📢 Welcome to the South Haven Elementary School family! Meet Laura Jones, our new 7th grade math and social studies teacher! 🌟
Laura recently moved back to Henderson County and is thrilled to teach at the elementary school from which she once graduated. She earned her bachelor's degree from UTM Parsons in 2017 and has since gained valuable experience in various teaching positions. This is Laura's second year teaching in public schools, and she's excited to be back in Henderson County!

All children who will be four (4) years old on or before August 15, 2024, are eligible to apply for PreK for the 2024-2025 school year.
Requested documents to bring when completing an application:
-Proof of Income (ex: check stub, income tax return, public assistance case, etc.)
-Proof of age such as birth certificate, other medical documents
-Social Security Card
-Proof of Immunizations on a Tennessee Certificate of Immunization form from the Health Department or a Physician’s office
-Copy of Physical Examination (within 1 calendar year)
-Two (2) Proofs of County Residence (E911 address) (ex: electric bill, water bill, etc.)

Voluntary PreK (VPK) is an income-based program and first priority will go to those families that qualify. Completing the Henderson County PreK application packet does not necessarily guarantee enrollment in the PreK program. Non-income eligible students are placed on a waiting list once all paperwork is complete. Once all qualifying students are placed, non-income eligible students will receive notice informing them of their status after the beginning of school, per the VPK grant guidelines.
