Aiden Phillips, a South Side 7th grader, along with his teammate Weston Mullins finished 11th in the TN Bass Nation State Youth Fishing Tournament. They rank 2nd in the state. Way to go Aiden!

Mr. Marty Johnson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Freed Hardeman University, dedicating 35 years to teaching and leadership. His career includes roles at Michie Elementary and Chester Co. Jr. High before becoming principal at South Side Elementary in 2012. When asked what the students would be surprised to find out about you, he stated, “I had a mullet before I was bald!” :) Mr. Johnson prioritizes student happiness and kindness within his school community. He shares valuable life lessons with students, emphasizing self-worth and hard work, all guided by several inspirational quotes: “Dress the way you want to be addressed. Your actions are speaking so loud I can't hear what you are saying. How you do small things is how you do all things! Do the hard things first, and everything else is easy.”
