Henderson County Special Education Department commits to partnering with families and community agencies to ensure the spirit and implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) by creating, fostering, and supporting inclusive environments, services, and programs that meet the unique needs of all eligible special education students.

Academic support services range from a consultative basis with accommodations in the classroom to a full-time self-contained setting for students with disabilities. These students must be deemed eligible for such services by a specific team of professionals, with input from parents and teachers. Services are outlined by these teams in Individualized Educational Programs (IEP) in keeping with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, procedures, and policies.
