“The Grind" at Scotts Hill High School presented metal signs for Mr. Beecham and each school board member for Tennessee School Board Appreciation Week. Thank you to Mr. Qualls and his class! The Grind is a metal fab shop at Scotts Hill High School that is student-based, student-led, and student-driven. The first students to participate in "The Grind" are Garrett Buffaloe, Sam White, Cole Clark, Adam Tubbs, and Zach Lyles. This school enterprise allows the students to build community relationships and life skills. The process begins when a customer reaches out to them about a potential sign idea. They describe what they want their sign to look like, and these students bring their ideas to life. Once the sign is designed, it is cut out on their CNC table, then ground down smooth and painted. All of the advertising, marketing, inventory, and everything related to the business is led by the students and supervised by the instructor.
