The Henderson County School System is proud to announce the appointment of Shannon Taylor as the new Elementary Instructional Supervisor. A dedicated educator with three decades of experience, Taylor brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and passion to her new role—qualities that have defined her career from the classroom to administration.

Taylor has served the last six years as principal of Bargerton School, where she focused on fostering a supportive, student-centered learning environment and empowering teachers through collaboration and professional development. Her commitment to student growth, academic excellence, and inclusive education has made her a respected leader throughout the district.

Her journey in education began in 1995 at Lexington High School, where she taught Biology and Biology II for eight years before transitioning to middle school science. In 2006, she stepped into educational leadership as Assistant Principal at LHS. Since then, she has served in a variety of roles, including principal, assistant principal, and district teacher evaluator, allowing her to work closely with educators across grade levels—particularly Pre-K through 8th grade.

"Shannon’s depth of experience and her heart for students make her an ideal fit for this role," said Director of Schools Danny Beecham. "She understands the importance of instructional leadership and brings a collaborative spirit that will strengthen teaching and learning in every elementary classroom in our district."

Taylor’s educational philosophy centers on the belief that all students can learn when provided with a positive and purposeful learning environment. As the parent of a child with special needs, she holds a personal commitment to supporting struggling learners and creating inclusive school communities.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University.

Outside of her professional life, Taylor enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband of 27 years, Rick Taylor, are the proud parents of three children—Mary Mallette, Ben, and Jack—and grandparents to a two-year-old grandson, Wilkes.

The Henderson County School System is excited to welcome Shannon Taylor into this new leadership role and looks forward to the positive impact her experience and dedication will bring to elementary instruction districtwide.
