We are super excited to announce our first members of the 25 point club! Aurora Bynum, Hadding Wadley, Tristan Wood, Marleigh O'Conor, and Lucas Frazier have all earned at least 25 AR points so far this year! This afternoon we awarded them with a certificate and some ice cream! We can't wait until next week-we just know there will be even more students to announce! Keep on reading, Rebels!

Congratulations to our Reading Rebels!
Our Kindergarten–2nd grade students are working hard to grow as readers, and once they earn 2 AR points, they receive their very own library bag to use all year long.
Way to go, Rebels—we are so proud of you! More bags will be handed out this Friday, so keep reading and earning those points!

Today, we’re shining a light on the incredible educators who nurture our youngest learners. 💛📚
Every day, these teachers lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. With patience, creativity, and care, they guide our students through their first steps in reading, writing, math, and so much more. But beyond academics, they teach kindness, curiosity, confidence, and community.
To our PreK–4th grade teachers: THANK YOU. Your impact reaches far beyond the classroom, and we are so grateful for your heart and dedication. 💐✏️

Why School Attendance Matters
Showing up each day makes a difference! Regular school attendance is one of the strongest predictors of student success, both in the classroom and later in life. When students attend school consistently, they build strong learning habits, develop critical social skills, and stay on track academically.
Missing just a few days here and there can quickly add up. Research shows that students who are chronically absent—missing 10% or more of the school year—are more likely to fall behind in reading and math, struggle to stay engaged, and face greater challenges graduating on time.
Good attendance also prepares students for the future. Being present and on time teaches responsibility, commitment, and time management—skills that post-secondary schools and employers value highly.
Parents and guardians play a critical role in supporting attendance. Encouraging routines, scheduling appointments outside of school hours, and communicating with teachers when challenges arise can all help keep students in class and learning.
At Henderson County Schools, we are committed to helping every student thrive. By making school attendance a top priority, families and schools can work together to give our children the best chance at success—today and in the future.
