Beaver Elementary

We are excited to announce our new Assistant Principal/Reading Specialist, Shanda Lewis!

Mrs. Shanda brings 27 years of teaching experience including 23 years in middle school ELA and 4 years of serving as Reading Specialist at Beaver School. She holds a Master’s Degree from Freed-Hardeman University and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin. Mrs. Shanda is known for her love of our school as all 27 years of her career have been here. She is passionate about leadership and literacy. She is excited to support Beaver’s students, teachers, and families in new and meaningful ways.

Outside of school, Mrs. Shanda enjoys life with her loving family. She has been married to her husband, Mark, for 29 years. Her daughter, Molly, will be graduating with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from ETSU in August. Her son, Logan, will be a sophomore at the University of Tennessee at Martin this fall. Mrs. Shanda enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Shanda is looking forward to an amazing school year at Beaver School. Here’s to growing minds, building relationships, and making every word count!

We are excited to welcome Warren and Tabitha Yarbro as assistant basketball coaches. My name is Tabitha Yarbro. I graduated from SHHS in 1998, where my love for sports began early with both softball and basketball, which I played until I was 19. My husband, Warren Yarbro, graduated from LHS in 1994, where he played basketball through high school. We married in 2003 and have built a beautiful blended family with five children, three bonus kids, and recently welcomed our first grandchild! Our family shares a passion for sports — we love not only playing, but also teaching kids, watching them grow, and seeing their excitement for the game. I have proudly worked at Beaver for the past five years and love being part of this incredible school community. We are excited and ready for this next adventure!

🏀 Big News! 🏀 We’re excited to welcome Coach Gerald Taylor as the new head coach of our basketball teams! Mr. Gerald Taylor is an accomplished financial professional and educator. He is the Chief Compliance Officer at Carroll Bank and Trust and has previously worked with leading financial institutions, including Mutual of America, Allstate Financial Services, and Northwestern Mutual. Additionally, he has experience as an Associate Professor at Lane College, where he taught business, accounting, and investments. In addition to his professional background, Gerald brings a wealth of leadership experience to his role in youth development. As the head coach of the Tennessee Heat AAU basketball team, he has led multiple championship-winning teams while fostering a culture of hard work, discipline, and academic achievement. Under his leadership, every player in the program has maintained strong academic standing, with many advancing to compete at the high school level. Gerald Taylor holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Capella University, an MBA from Bethel University, and a BBA in Accounting from Lambuth University. His diverse expertise, strong moral character, and passion for youth development make him an excellent fit for the basketball program at Beaver Elementary.
