Students in the Digital Arts and Design program and the Tiger Marketing & Media Club at Lexington High School recently came together to support one of their own, raising $2,000 for the family of assistant football coach R.E. McDonald.
Coach McDonald and his wife, Hanna, are currently spending time in Memphis as their baby daughter, Maeve, receives cancer treatments at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Wanting to help the family during this difficult time, marketing students organized a community-wide T-shirt fundraiser.
As part of the project, students applied graphic design skills they have been learning in class to create shirt concepts. The final design chosen featured the phrase “We Are Tigers,” a message that reflects the strong sense of unity within the Lexington High School community.
Students managed the entire project from start to finish. They took pre-orders, coordinated shirt orders and materials, and even pressed the designs themselves. In total, the class produced nearly 150 shirts.
Through their efforts, the students raised $2,000 to help support the McDonald family as Maeve continues her treatments. The fundraiser not only demonstrated the students’ marketing and design skills but also highlighted the compassion and community spirit that define Lexington High School.
