We're back from Christmas Break and that means it’s time for another Meet our Team Monday! Each Monday, we are sharing profiles featuring our dedicated faculty and staff who go above and beyond to make our school the outstanding and welcoming community that it is. Our state scores speak to the commitment of our faculty and staff. We want to introduce who each one is as a person. Join us in celebrating our team each week.

The Tennessee Department of Education has officially released the 2022-23 School Letter Grades. We are very proud to report that Lexington High School was awarded an "A" letter grade, scoring a 4.8 out of a possible 5 points. The Tennessee Department of Education states that the new grading system "provides a snapshot of how each school in the state is doing in meeting the state’s expectations for learning, including student achievement and academic growth measures for all schools, as well as a measure of college and career readiness just for high schools." Congratulations to the students, faculty, and staff at Lexington High School for an incredible school year!

Congratulations to these students in Mrs. Rainey's Personal Finance class for passing their Dual Credit exam and earning college credit.

The LHS Yearbook Staff took time to visit with local residents to wish them a “Merry Christmas” and pass out gifts. They also handed out Christmas cards made by Ms. Carillo, Mrs. Brigance, and Mrs. Bivens’ English classes. The Renaissance team donated treats for the residents to enjoy. It was a good day and a team effort!

The LHS Show Choir went to sing at the Retired Teachers Association program yesterday. Thank you to Mrs. Jaivel Walker for all you do for our students!

Mrs. Jaivel's Vocal Music Class sang at NorthCliff Assisted Living yesterday. They sang Christmas Carols while the residents were enjoying breakfast. It was a very special time for both the residents and the students. Ms. Janelle Jacobsen was with us and sang a duet with Mrs. Jaivel and the students.

Lexington High School is proud to once again host the multi- award winning and New York Best- Selling author, Ruta Sepetys! She will visit us on Monday, December 11. Known for telling the "hidden" stories, she has become a cherished author world- wide. She will discuss her breakout novel about the Russian holocaust entitled, "Between Shades of Gray. " All students at LHS will have the opportunity to hear her speak. Students enrolled in English or History this semester will receive a copy of her book. Once again, thank you to Humanities Tennessee for donating the books for our students to have signed. We look forward to a wonderful day on Monday!

Mrs. Jaivel Walker's Spanish classes have made some amazing Christmas cards using quilling. Quilling is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper shape is manipulated to create designs on their own or to decorate other objects, such as greetings cards, pictures, boxes, or to make jewelry.

Mrs. Jaivel's 3rd block and 4th block classes learned how to make paper flowers a few weeks ago! They are used in many traditional decorations in Latin countries. The next week they learned how to make "papel picado" (cut paper decorations).

Mrs. Lidian Lindsey's class decorated Christmas cookies today!
