Last week, our seniors learned the results of voting for Who's Who for our yearbook. Who's Who has a long and rich tradition at Scotts Hill High School. It is intended to celebrate the best of the best of our school and recognize students who are deserving of honor. This year, the yearbook staff, without prior knowledge or approval of the leadership team, included new categories that did not reflect this ideal. When the results were announced, several students were hurt and embarrassed, and understandably so. Our leadership team immediately had a meeting to discuss the situation and attempted to intervene by meeting with the students who had received these "awards." In some cases, the students agreed to accept the award if it could be reworded as a positive; in others, the students asked to not be included. Our intention was to minimize the embarrassment of any students involved, and we respected the wishes of each student. Over the course of the last week, it has become evident that these efforts were not satisfactory. Our community is embarrassed, hurt, and angered by this situation, and deservedly so. Our leadership team had the same reaction when we learned of this incident. In the future, any such categories must be approved by school leadership. Our understanding is that, up until this point, that oversight has not been necessary. Unfortunately, this incident has forced a change in our operating procedure. But that does not fix the problem now. On Monday, our leadership team (the administrative and guidance staff) will meet with the yearbook sponsor and staff to discuss potential solutions to this problem. The final solution will then be shared with all stakeholders via our social media platforms. We are truly embarrassed that this has happened. This incident does not reflect the ideals of our school, staff, and community. We sincerely apologize to everyone who has been impacted by this and hope everyone involved gives our school the opportunity to make it right. Scotts Hill High School is a wonderful place with wonderful people in an amazing, supportive community. Our goal is that another incident of this nature never happens again at this school. Thank you, Adam Wood, Whitney Crider, and the Leadership Team of Scotts Hill High School

We enjoyed a visit from Director Beecham. In the pictures you will see the drone purchased by the ISM grant. Mr. Webb, Coach Qualls, Mr. Bridges, and Coach Clayton have all helped to get the drone operating. We will plan to use it for spraying fertilizer and possibly insecticide and herbicide applications on athletic fields soon.
