Westover Elementary’s library was brimming with creativity this fall during our annual Book Character Pumpkin Decorating Contest, a much-loved event that brings stories to life while raising funds for our Million Word Club.

Students and families showed off their imagination with an impressive lineup of pumpkins, featuring beloved characters such as E.T., Pig the Pug, and even a colorful Wizard of Oz scene. Each entry captured the heart of a favorite book, reminding us all just how magical reading can be!

After a week of voting, the top honors went to 3rd grader Josie Ross, whose Junie B. Jones pumpkin stole the show and received the most votes. Her creative design perfectly captured the spunky spirit of the popular book character.

Westover would like to thank all students, families, and staff who participated and helped make this event such a success. Every dollar raised supports our Million Word Club, encouraging students to reach new reading goals and celebrate their love for books.

Congratulations, Josie, and thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s contest one to remember!
