Westover School was buzzing with excitement as students, families, and staff gathered for one of the school’s most engaging learning events of the year—the Westover Living History Museum and Literacy Night. The evening highlighted the hard work and creativity of Westover’s 5th–7th grade students, who transformed the school into a living timeline of historical figures.

Dressed as influential leaders, inventors, scientists, and trailblazers from the past, students proudly presented their research to parents and visitors as if they were the historical figures themselves. Guests had the opportunity to walk through the “museum,” stopping to hear students share facts, stories, and accomplishments from the lives of the people they portrayed. From famous presidents and civil rights leaders to groundbreaking innovators, each student brought their character to life with confidence and enthusiasm. Their dedication, preparation, and presentation skills were on full display, and they represented Westover with pride.

Following the Living History Museum, families joined students for an interactive Literacy Night filled with hands-on activities that encouraged curiosity and a love of reading. Participants worked together to crack secret codes, dig for dinosaur bones like paleontologists, magnify their nonfiction reading skills, and scope out detailed scenes using observation and critical thinking. The activities blended literacy with exploration, making learning both exciting and memorable for students of all ages.

To wrap up the evening, families enjoyed a snack provided by the Westover PTO, giving everyone a chance to relax and celebrate a night of learning together.

Westover would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the students who worked so hard researching, preparing, and presenting their historical figures. Your effort, creativity, and courage to stand in front of an audience made the event truly special. We are also grateful to our families for attending and supporting our students, helping make this another successful literacy event for the Westover community.

A special thank you goes to Mrs. Rachel Mitchell, Mrs. Hannah McMinn, and Mrs. Brittany Immormino for their leadership in coordinating the event. Their planning, organization, and dedication created an experience that allowed students to showcase their learning while inspiring a deeper appreciation for history and literacy.

Events like these remind us that when our students, families, and teachers come together, learning becomes an unforgettable experience. At Westover, we are proud to celebrate the curiosity, creativity, and hard work of our students—because there truly is no place like Westover.
