Henderson County Schools Names Dr. Stephanie Coffman Director of Special Education
Henderson County Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Stephanie Coffman as the district's new Director of Special Education.
Dr. Coffman currently serves as the principal of South Haven Elementary School, where she has led with a student-centered approach, a commitment to academic excellence, and a passion for meeting the needs of every learner. A lifelong resident of Henderson County, she has dedicated her entire career to serving the students, families, and schools of the community she proudly calls home.
Dr. Coffman began her career with Henderson County Schools in 2000 as a classroom teacher before moving into administration in 2012. Throughout her career, she has served in a variety of roles, including classroom teacher, English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher, assistant principal, K–8 principal, and high school principal. In addition to her work in public education, she also owned and operated a private enrichment center, providing children with meaningful educational opportunities beyond the traditional classroom.
She earned her Doctorate in Instructional Leadership from Freed-Hardeman University and brings more than 25 years of experience in education to her new position. Her broad educational background and proven leadership have made a lasting impact across Henderson County Schools.
As Director of Special Education, Dr. Coffman will oversee the district's special education programs and services, working closely with students, families, educators, and administrators to ensure every student receives the individualized support and opportunities they need to thrive.
"Dr. Coffman has consistently demonstrated a heart for students and a commitment to educational excellence throughout her career," said Director of Schools Danny J. Beecham. "She is a respected leader who understands the importance of building strong relationships with families, supporting teachers, and advocating for every child. Her experience, compassion, and vision make her an exceptional choice to lead our Special Education Department, and I have every confidence that she will continue to make a tremendous difference for the students of Henderson County."
Dr. Coffman said she is honored to continue serving the district in this new capacity.
"I am truly honored and humbled to have the opportunity to serve as Director of Special Education," said Dr. Coffman. "Throughout my career, I have been blessed to work alongside incredible students, families, teachers, and administrators who have shaped my journey as an educator. I look forward to working collaboratively with our schools to ensure every student is supported, valued, and provided the resources they need to reach their full potential. It is a privilege to continue serving the community that has meant so much to me throughout my life."
