Voluntary PreK (VPK) is an income-based program and first priority will go to those families that qualify. Completing the Henderson County PreK application packet does not necessarily guarantee enrollment in the PreK program. Non-income eligible students are placed on a waiting list once all paperwork is complete. Once all qualifying students are placed, non-income eligible students will receive notice informing them of their status after the beginning of school, per the VPK grant guidelines.

Mr. Brandon Rainey, Lexington High School principal, has named Mr. Terry Clement assistant principal and athletic director of Lexington High School.
Mr. Clement obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1996. He went on to earn a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Memphis in 2003 and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State.
With twenty-five years of experience, Coach Terry Clement has spent the last twenty-three years teaching at his alma mater, Lexington High School. He has also coached Cross-Country, Football, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Tennis and Golf at LHS. This past year, his Cross-Country teams accomplished a record-setting feat in 2023 as the Girls’ and Boys’ teams advanced to the State meet in the same season for the first time in school history.
He has also been an athletic leader off the field, serving on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association for the past 16 years, including three stints as President. In his time on the Board, the membership has grown from 2,400 to a present-day membership of over 6,000. Clement also serves on the “other” side of athletics, officiating several sports. Currently, he is a high school basketball and volleyball referee. In 2021, he was selected to work the TSSAA State Basketball Tournament and the Class 4A championship game that year. He also referees Women’s College basketball, officiating in the Gulf South, Mid-South, and Tennessee and Mississippi Junior College conferences. He has been selected to officiate in the Mid-South Conference tournament the past two seasons. He retired from college baseball umpiring three years ago. For the past five seasons, he has had the honor of serving as a color analyst for the Blue Cross Football Championships.
Clement believes, “Teachers and coaches have a great responsibility to develop young student-athletes. Our job is to help prepare them for the next stage of their lives, whatever that is.” He believes it is a responsibility that occurs both on and off the field.
Coach Clement and his wife Julia enjoy raising their three French Bulldogs and twenty-plus chickens. They also enjoy spending time on the water and traveling.
