FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lexington High School Names Keith Runyon Head Coach of Lady Tiger Basketball

Lexington High School is proud to announce the hiring of Keith Runyon as the next Head Coach of the Lady Tiger Basketball program. Coach Runyon brings a wealth of leadership experience, a strong basketball background, and a proven record of building successful programs.

A native of Eastern Kentucky, Runyon grew up in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in the small rural community of John’s Creek. Following high school, he attended the University of Virginia at Wise on a basketball scholarship before beginning a distinguished 21-year career in the United States Navy.

During his military service, Runyon earned multiple Navy and Marine Corps Achievement and Commendation Medals, became a Master Training Specialist, and received numerous honors for his service during Operation Iraqi Freedom and The Gulf War.

Basketball has remained a constant throughout his life, as he has played, coached, and officiated the game for many years. In Tennessee, Runyon has led teams to District and Region Championships while fostering strong team culture and player development. He was recognized as District 12AAA Coach of the Year after guiding his team to a District Championship and substate appearance. Most recently, he coached the Westover Lady Bears to both a regular season title and County Tournament Championship this past season.

Coach Runyon shared his excitement about the opportunity to lead the Lady Tigers:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” I am so thankful His plans have brought me and my bride home. Lori and I are blessed beyond measure by this opportunity to love, lead, impact, and coach these young ladies. Our top priorities are to start building our coaching staff, meet with the players and parents, and start developing players right away. I can’t wait to get the gym open.”

Lexington High School is excited to welcome Coach Runyon and his wife, Lori, to the Tiger family and looks forward to the future of Lady Tiger Basketball under his leadership.

It was a long week of Tennis for our LHS program with them having 3 away matches last week. The boys picked up wins against McNairy and Collinwood but suffered a loss to Chester County. The girls picked up a win against Collinwood but lost to McNairy and Chester County. Was a great opportunity for some of young players to get court time. They wrap up the season this week with district matches against Scott's Hill on Monday and Middleton on Tuesday.
