Originally from Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, LeighAnne is a recent graduate of Freed-Hardeman University, where she earned her degree in Spanish with Secondary Education. As a third-generation educator, she is excited to begin her teaching career and continue her family’s legacy of making a difference in the lives of students.
Outside of the classroom, LeighAnne is looking forward to an exciting milestone this fall as she and her fiancé, Ben, will be getting married in November.

Lexington High School Principal Brandon Rainey Named Finalist for Tennessee Principal of the Year
LEXINGTON, Tenn. – Henderson County Schools is proud to announce that Lexington High School Principal Brandon Rainey has been named the 2026–2027 Southwest CORE Regional Finalist for Tennessee Principal of the Year by the Tennessee Department of Education.
Mr. Rainey is one of only nine principals across Tennessee—one representing each of the state's eight CORE regions and the Shelby/Municipals area—to earn regional finalist recognition. The Tennessee Department of Education will announce the 2026–2027 Tennessee Principal of the Year this October.
Since becoming principal of Lexington High School, Mr. Rainey has fostered a culture built on academic excellence, student achievement, and meaningful relationships. His leadership has strengthened an environment where high expectations, continuous improvement, and a commitment to student success remain at the forefront of everything the school does.
Under Mr. Rainey's leadership, Lexington High School has continued to distinguish itself as one of Tennessee's premier high schools. Most recently, the school earned recognition as a Tennessee Level 5 School, received Reward School status, and achieved a perfect 5.0 growth score. Lexington High School was one of only four high schools in West Tennessee and just 26 statewide to earn all three distinctions, underscoring the exceptional work of its faculty, staff, students, and families.

Students will have the opportunity to become familiar with LHS, learn about expectations, explore the building, receive their schedule, and get ready for an exciting four years as a Big Red Tiger!

Parents are invited to meet school administrators, learn about important procedures and expectations, and receive information to help make the transition to high school a successful one.

Congratulations to the following students on passing the Statewide Dual Credit American History Exam! This exam has a pass rate of just 2.7%, making their achievement truly outstanding. We are incredibly proud of these students — along with Coach Bivens and Coach Bowman — on a job well done! : Jayvius Edwards, Jace Scott, June Sheffield, Mason Taylor, Alex Tyler, Tiberius Ware, Eli Watkins, and Russell Wilson. Way to go Tigers!
This week 13 LHS AFJROTC cadets completed our annual Blue Ridge Challenge leadership camp at the beautiful YMCA campus in Black Mountain, NC. They combined with 187 Air Force and Marine Corps cadets from 17 Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia schools. The week was full of early morning PT, room inspections, sports, leadership challenges, team building, high ropes course, archery, and academics. They also had bonfires, creative skits, and a dance social. A distinction that we're particularly proud of is that LHS was one of only a few schools in which all of their cadets graduated.
They also brought home some impressive awards. Daisy Baron, Carter Blakney, Sullivan Richardson, and Parker Roberts all earned the title Distinguish Graduate, an award that only 10% of the camp receives. Nyjah Purvis and Jon Robinson earned the Top Flight award and also brought home the Sports Championship. Jay Burroughs and Isabella Clark helped their flight earn the top fitness fight, and Carley Matheny led her flight to the best military drill award. We're so proud of them all!
Fundraiser Alert!! Deliciousness is on its way! LHS Cheer is selling Little Caesars Pizza Kits! All profits go directly towards individual cheerleaders accounts to help lower their cost for camp, uniforms, etc!. You can scan the QR code below to order or contact a LHS cheerleader! On Sunday, 10 female cadets from LHS JROTC participated in a Muddy Princess 5K Obstacle Mud-Run. Special thanks to Ms. Ozier for providing adult supervision in the trenches! The girls ran the 5K and completed 18-20 muddy obstacles. It was a day filled with girl power, female bonding, and those unforgettable “Wow, I never thought I’d be able to do that!” moments.

Track and Field members competed at the state meet at UT Knoxville on Tuesday, ending their season strong. Brayden Bailey placed 8th with a throw of 42-5 beating his old PR. The 4x100 relay, made up of members Keagan Chappel, Mason Taylor, Arin Huffman, and Amarion Arnold placed 7th overall, shattering their old PR and setting another school record for the boys 4x100 at 43.3. Congratulations to these students athletes and Coach Boales for a great season.

Pepper is our sweet 4-year-old Labrador Retriever and officially our new therapy dog! She already brings so much joy, comfort, and love wherever she goes, and we are so excited for everyone to get to know her.
Pepper loves playing fetch with her favorite tennis ball, getting lots of pets, and making new friends. Most importantly, she’s eager to help calm nerves and brighten your day — especially during stressful test days! 🐶✨
Whether she’s offering a wagging tail, cuddles, or just a comforting presence, Pepper is ready to make a "pawsitive" impact on everyone she meets. Be sure to say hi when you see her around! ❤️
