Seniors participated in the Baccaularette Service tonight, a long-standing tradition at LHS that is hosted by First Baptist Church. The guest speaker for the service, Coach Derek Carr, shared these five points with the seniors:

Take the lead and make a difference at LHS! If you're ready to represent your class and committed to planning exciting events, Student Council is for you! These elections are for the 2026-2027 school year and for rising sophomores to seniors! Packets can be picked up in the new building front office & the counselors' office. Student Council elections will be held in August for incoming freshmen.

LHS history students got the rare opportunity to hear from Marlene Warshawski Yahalom, PhD. The daughter and granddaughter of six Holocaust survivors, Dr. Yahalom offers a powerful perspective shaped by both lived experience and years of academic study. She previously served as Director of Education for American Society for Yad Vashem, dedicating her work to preserving and teaching Holocaust history. Dr. Yahalom earned her PhD in Sociology from Columbia University, focusing on collective memory and the role of archives in remembering the Holocaust. She has also taught courses on the Holocaust, human rights, and collective memory, and brings over two decades of experience in nonprofit leadership and educational programming.
