We are excited to announce a new program available for our high school juniors at LHS and SHHS beginning this year, the Henderson County Youth Leadership Program. This program is a collaboration between the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce and Henderson County Schools to identify and develop young leaders into informed and committed citizens for the future of Henderson County. We are partnering with local government, business and industry leaders, non-profit organizations, and boards of education to connect students with local mentors, build valuable leadership and communication skills, and instill a sense of civic responsibility and servant leadership. Our goal is to produce confident, self-motivated leaders who see value in the resources within our county and want to learn how they can dedicate their time and talents to improve the community. HCYL is composed of ten monthly sessions that are held August-May, with a graduation banquet at the conclusion. If this is something that sounds like a good fit for you, pick up an application in the counseling office (LHS) or the front office (SHHS). Applications are available beginning Tuesday morning and are due by 2:45pm on Friday, August 25. This is a lucrative program with limited spots. Chosen participants will be notified on Tuesday, August 29. A mandatory parent meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 30 at 6pm.
