🏀 Westover Elementary is excited to announce the hiring of Coach Rachel Savage as the new Girls Basketball Coach! 🐻💙💛 Coach Savage brings a strong background in both playing and coaching, along with a passion for developing young athletes on and off the court. A graduate of Lexington High School, she continued her basketball career at Jackson State Community College before spending three years competing in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada. The experiences and relationships built through athletics helped shape her commitment to mentorship, servant leadership, and investing in the next generation. For the past eight years, Coach Savage has worked with student-athletes with an emphasis on fundamental skill development, confidence-building, mental toughness, and character growth. She believes athletics provide an opportunity to teach discipline, teamwork, accountability, perseverance, and a genuine love for the game. Coach Savage and her fiancée are proud parents of four children—three boys and one girl—and family remains at the center of everything they do. As she begins this new chapter with Westover, Coach Savage looks forward to serving the students, athletes, families, and community while building a program that challenges young people to grow, believe in themselves, and succeed both on and off the court. Please join us in welcoming Coach Rachel Savage to the Westover Bears family! 💙💛🏀

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their courage, service, and dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.

As we enjoy time with family and friends this Memorial Day, may we also take a moment to reflect with gratitude for those who gave so much for us all. ❤️🤍💙

From all of us at Westover Elementary, we wish our families a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

🎓🐻 The halls are quiet, the year is through,
But what a journey it’s been with all of you. 💙💛

From color runs and neon literacy nights,
To basketball games and excited fans' delight.
From Homecoming Week and Trunk or Treat,
To Christmas sing-alongs that couldn’t be beat. 🎄✨

We welcomed grandparents with love and cheer,
Made memories together throughout the year.
We watched little chickens hatch and grow,
And saw our students’ excitement glow. 🐣

We explored the past in Living History Museums,
Learned new lessons, chased big dreams, and cheered on our Big Bear teams. 📚🏀

There were laughs in the hallways, friendships grown,
Moments of courage and seeds that were sown.
Nearly undefeated seasons, school spirit so bright,
Westover Bears truly shined this year with pride and might. 🐻

To our students, staff, families, and friends—
Thank you for the memories from beginning to end.
No matter where summer adventure may lead you,
You’ll always be a part of the Westover family, through and through. ❤️

Have a safe, happy, and wonderful summer, Bears! ☀️
We can’t wait to see what next year takes us.

Today we had the honor of celebrating three incredible ladies as they begin a new chapter in retirement. ❤️ Mrs. Shelia Pearson, Mrs. Regina Reeves, and Mrs. Janet Mays have each made a lasting impact on the students, staff, and families of our school. Their years of dedication, kindness, hard work, and love for children have helped shape countless lives. Mrs. Pearson and Mrs. Reeves have faithfully served as teachers, pouring their hearts into the classroom and investing in generations of students. Mrs. Mays has served our cafeteria with a smile and caring spirit, making sure students were always welcomed and cared for each day. Today’s retirement lunch was a small way to show our appreciation for all they have done over the years. While they will certainly be missed, we are so excited for them as they begin this well-earned season of retirement. Thank you, ladies, for your service, your love for kids, and the difference you have made. Once part of our school family, always part of our school family. 💙 Please help us congratulate these amazing ladies and wish them the very best in retirement!

After weeks of reading, listening, and voting in our Battle of the Books competition, we officially have a champion! 🐻📚🏆

Congratulations to Not Fair, Bear! by for being crowned Westover’s Book Battle Winner!

Our students loved following the adventures of Bear and Squirrel, and the fun was made even better thanks to our very own Officer Vineyard, who brought the story to life as one of our special guest readers. 💙

From 16 amazing picture books down to one final winner, our Bears have spent the year building a love for reading, sharing opinions, and cheering on their favorite stories. Thank you to all of our staff, guest readers, and students who made Battle of the Books such a fun experience at Westover!

And remember… even when things seem “not fair,” books always bring us together. 📖✨
