At Westover we celebrate reading on Halloween!

Happy National Principals Month from the Henderson County School District! A big thank you to Mrs. Maynard and all the amazing Henderson County School Principals who work hard and inspire our students daily. Your impact is truly important, and your dedication to creating a positive school environment makes a difference in many lives. #ThankAPrincipal #NationalPrincipalsMonth
Mrs. Renee Maynard holds a BS in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Early Childhood Education and an MAED in Educational Leadership from Bethel University, bringing 31 years of experience to the field. Her journey began with volunteering in church activities and leading the children's choir and VBS. She has evolved through roles as a classroom teacher, academic coach, assistant principal, and, currently, principal. Students might be surprised to learn she was the first fast-pitch pitcher for Lexington Softball (pic in the comments). She believes that a good day at school is when there is evidence of learning and a spirit of camaraderie up and down the halls, along with Mrs. Carolyn bringing no-bake chocolate oatmeal cookies or Mr. Roberto bringing his homemade salsa! Inspired by a quote from her father, she emphasizes the importance of kindness: "Some people will disagree with and even dislike you, but live your life so they will respect you," and advises new teachers to breathe, build relationships, and learn from their mistakes.

On Tuesday Westover hosted its first Literacy Night of the school year. We had local author Makenzie Van Nes come to share her book "Dodger and Ofi" with our students and talk to them about the process of writing a book. Farmer Frank and his dogs were even here too. We had touch a tractor, a craft table, snacks, and much more. It was a great night at Westover!
