Our 6th graders have been working hard the past few weeks sharpening their writing skills in Mrs. Simpson's ELA class. They participated in a mock trial to introduce argumentative writing by collecting evidence to support their claims and refute counterclaims and then making inferences to form theories. Then, each student chose an influential person of color who has impacted them personally or society as a whole and composed essays on 6 specific areas of that persons life. We are all blown away by their creativity and eagerness to apply the skills they’ve learned in ELA this year. Way to go Mrs. Simpson and way to go 6th grade students!
