Students learned about the importance of nightcrawlers for the sustainability of our environment and why we need to protect them. They studied their body segments, brain function, and how they breathe, then created an observatory to watch them work.
A few had never touched a worm 🐛 so true hands-on learning using the stem and our senses.

Henderson County Virtual School Celebrates First Graduating Class
A historic milestone was celebrated today as the Henderson County Virtual School held its first-ever graduation ceremony. The event took place at 2:00 PM in the LHS auditorium. It was a proud and emotional occasion for the 20 graduates, their families, and school staff.
The founding of the school was led by Mr. Danny Beecham, Director of Schools, and the Henderson County School Board, who recognized the growing need for alternative learning options. Their vision resulted in the creation of the district’s 10th school—Henderson County Virtual School—offering students a flexible and personalized education path.
Led by Principal Mr. William Forney, the ceremony celebrated the school’s pioneering class. The auditorium was filled with a large crowd of excited family members, friends, and supporters who gathered to cheer on the graduates.
Mr. Danny Beecham addressed the class with words of encouragement: “Graduates, your journey has been unique. Many of you chose this path because the traditional route did not meet your needs, but you did not give up. Instead, you found a way forward. Congratulations and well done! On behalf of the Henderson County School Board, I commend you on this achievement. We are proud of you; the first graduating class of the Henderson County Virtual School.”
The ceremony included speeches, recognitions, and the traditional turning of the tassels, closing a unique chapter for students who chose an alternative path to success through virtual learning.
As they step forward into college, careers, and beyond, the first graduating class of Henderson County Virtual School leaves a legacy of innovation and determination.
